This is the one of the most prominent areas of Copenhagen; full of great restaurants and bars most with all-year outside seating provided by heaters and blankets.
As expected of a area like this, prices are not cheap but the food is mostly excellent especially if you stick to Danish food.
Still a couple of places indicate the original spirit of the area, which once was a rough sailors quarter but now most places have been done-up and re-branded. If you want to know more about the history then try this link.
My favourite places here are:
- 5: Nyhavns Færgekro – great restaurant where they serve al what you-can-eat homemade herring for about DKK125. Also try their homemade snaps and their a-la-carte menu
- 17: Nyhavn 17 – great bar and nice beers on tap. Expect to pay DKK 70-100 for a half a litre beer from tap
- 49: Vaffelbageren – the best ice cream in freshly baked waffles, which you can watch being made while you wait
But again if you stick to Danish food it should be great in this area…
Look up at the buildings to discover great decorations:
One of the original places – top tip – don’t go unless you like go-go dancers:
